Kate Sheppard

 Kate Sheppard

Intro:

Do you know who Kate Sheppard is?Kate Sheppard was famous for protesting and changing New Zealand. She was born on 10 march 1847 in liverpool, united kingdom, and died on 13 July 1934 . Kate Sheppard devoted most of her life to women's rights.

Body para 1:

In Kate Sheppard's time Women were treated  very differently and not in a good way. Men treated women like dogs and men thought that a woman's place was at home as a house and that they should have nothing to do with politics. There were so many strict rules that women had to follow back then. Some of them are that they couldn’t have their own bank account and Most of the time if a female wanted to do something she had to have either her husband or father’s permission.

Body Para 2:

Kate Sheppard did a petition to help with this problem. Before she could get any signatures she did talks and wrote in News Articles about how and why women's suffrage was such an important thing. A petition is when you get people to sign a paper and  then send it to the government. Did you know that Kate Sheppard Did 3 petitions. For Kate’s Petitions There were Over 500 pages of 32,000 signatures for Kate Sheppard’s petition. Kate Sheppard Then delivered the petition to the parliament in July 1893. It was only a few months after she delivered the petition that it was a law that women could vote.

Body Para 3;

Kate Sheppeard’s Petition changed The Way of New Zealand. 1893 was the year that women could vote for their government. In 1893 New Zealand Was the first to have a law that women could vote for their government. It took 6 years for Kate Sheppard to finish her petition. This means that Kate’s Petition worked.

Conclusion:

In conclusion Not only did Kate Sheppard’s Petition help New Zealand It helped change the World and how people thought.

Why Do We Need School

 Why do we need school?

Introduction:

Why is School Important? School can be a lot of things, But this essay is only going to explain

  • Learning

  • Socialising

  • And how to get a good job.

In the country of NZ It is compulsory to go school between the age of 5-16.

Body paragraph 1: to learn

Learning different subjects can help you out in the future. Reading can help you read book with great knowledge and read what bills you have to pay, Math can also help with paying bills. Another thing math is good for is it can help you with shopping. This knowledge can get you a good job.

Body paragraph 2: to get a job

A good Education Can Lead To A great Career. If you wanted to get a job like being an accountant, you would have to be great at maths. If you wanted to be a doctor you could choose that as one of your subjects and go to university to graduate as a doctor. For some jobs its

Body paragraph 3: To socialize

School is a good place for socialising. Having life long friends can be great, because they are always there for you. If we only did school through google meets or Zoom then we wouldn’t be great with social skills, and wouldn’t make much friends. Some schools do camps for the student and put the kids in groups with people they don't usually hang out with to make new friends. The social skills  you learn at school could help you make friends in the future.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, school helps with social anxiety,How to get a great career and what you could use learning for. We don’t know Where we would be if school was not there for us.

Dragons Eye Lake

Today in room 3 with Mrs Tele'a we learned about the dragons eye lake and how it came to look like an eye of a dragon. In the myth they say that there were two brothers, one blind brother and one who could see. The brother that could see stole his blind brothers land, and he found out and cursed him the there would be nothing. When the brother went back to the land there was nothing but water. The land the the brother had stolen was a lake, an there was a dragon to protect it. The only condition the dragon had was that he was received a bride every year, apparently not a single bride has made it 'till the end of the wedding. Aristole came in to save the new bride and stabbed the dragons heart with a spear that had moon dust on it. The dragon was left in agony and gauged his eyes out and threw them, one landed somewhere and the other landed in the lake witch then sunk into the ground. Now that lake in Rogoznica look like a dragons eye from birds EYE view. (get it)

Cambodian myth of Lighting,Thunder and Rain.

Today Room 5  rotated to Room 11, and learned about the myth of how Lighting,Thunder and rain came about. In the beginning of the story The master Lok Ta told his three top student Moni Mekhala,Vorachhun and Ream Eyso to collect a full jar of Morning dew, And that the first to bring it to him would be the master of a mysterious gift. Vorachhun and Ream Eyso left early hours in the morning and left not one leaf wet of Morning Dew. When they got back They had seen Moni Mekhala relaxing in the room with Lok Ta with a full Jar of Morning dew. She had left out a scarf over night to collect the dew in the morning, and when it was reading she ringed the water out into her jar.

BANANA GURL

Today I had to write a narrative. so here it is. wait until the end to find a nice and wierd surprise. :)

BANANA GURL!

Once upon a time there lived a very unusual girl, who loved BANANAS,her name was Penny. Penny LOVED bananas so much that all she ate was bananas,Banana cake, banana with yogurt not any other fruit would go in her food, baked banana oatmeal, banana nut muffins etc. The only thing Penny drank was banana smoothie, and tea it was banana flavoured, she refused to eat anything else.

Her days were always the same, nothing really changed, but one Sunday morning, Penny decided to go out shopping, to buy more bananas, for a recipe. Penny was heading out to her grandma’s house for tea. Time flew by and Penny had already finished her banana cake.

She drove down to her granny's house.Opened the door and to her surprise someone else was there, earlier that day when Penny was talking with her grandmother on the phone she didn't mention anyone coming over other than her. She thought “oh well, must be a last minute guest, I should have enough banana cake for her?”

Penny entered the house and took the banana cake into the kitchen, and prepared tea for the three of them.

1 week later...

Penny did her normal routine for Sunday, she went to the grocery store and bought more bananas and made her banana cake, this time she made a bit extra because she had a feeling that the girl from her last visit would be there again. And she was right when she headed over to her granny’s house and she was there again.

Last week when she visited her grandmother she didn't ask for the girl's name because for some reason she thought it would be rude. But she pushed that aside and just asked her because she thought “what could be so bad about asking, right?”. She asked and she said her name was......”Hope, My names hope” she said it as if she was annoyed with Penny.

Penny replied with “oh, hi hope, my name is pen-” before she could finish her name hope cut in and said “Penny, Yes I know I know, all your gran talks about is you!”

“Oh really? That's great. Btw how do you know my grandmother, are you her other granddaughter? Orrr.....??” “ im her health instructor, btw I don’t think you should be feeding her banana food all the time, to much of the same thing is bad for her, I mean I know bananas are healthy but to much of the same thing can be bad for someone so i suggest you either just leave alone or feed her different foods, I'm pretty sure you know she's 94.” “what do you mean, I eat banana food all the time, I mean that's the only thing I eat and I’m perfectly fine” penny starts to get this weird chill behind her neck “ you...WHAT?? YOU EAT BANANA FOOD ALL THE TIME?!?!, That’s it... Wingardium bananiosa!” POOF! Nothing happened but at Penny house something did happen. her friend Sky was there and Penny said “ Sky I’m a banana! I’m a BANANA!!” {WHAT????}

Come back for part 2 :)

Structure of the earth

Task descrption: Today I finished my "structure of earth" presentation. At the last slide you will see that I have labled the layers of the earth. The crust is the thinnist layer and the first layer. The next layer will be the mantle. And the last 2 are basically the same, they are both cores and they also are both made of iron and nickel, the only things that are different is the there is a outer core which is just lava, and the inner core which is 90 miles centered from the earth. it is as hot as the sun's surface.

The other reason why I wanted to do a easter egg hunt is because its very enjoyable and every year my mum puts a twist on it to make it more exciting.

Easter Learning Journey Day 1

Easter Learning Journey Day 1

Activity 1: Take a photo of yourself and a special object that you would pack and take with you if you were to travel around Aotearoa and the world. A special necklace, book, soft toy, a photo, special stone or shell? Post image in a blog post, introducing yourself to your audience AND an explanation as to why you would travel with this object!

This is a necklace that is special to me the reason why this is special to me is because my mum gave it to me as a present when I was eight. This isn't some sort of family heirloom or something it's just something my mum gave to me. When she was a teenager she won this from a competition, and I take this wherever I go.

Activity 2: Go here to the NZ tourism page and pick out 3 interesting facts you learn. Re-write in your own words as a second post for today!

Early Voyages: About four hundred years ago, this was before Christopher columbus and the rest of europe was worried and terrified that they were soon to fall off the earth our ancestors from way back decided to voyage thousands of miles in the enoumas unknown pasific ocean with just small ocean-going canoes. Those voyagers became the first inhabitants of New zealand Meaning they were the first ever people to find Aotearoa.

Mateship on the sporting field: In New Zealand the most popular sport is Rugby. People remember this sport like their birthday, everyone knows who plays who the winners and losers are. What brought this sport together was the mateship that they showed. This sport is so common around Aotearoa that even schools play tournaments. The first thing that comes to mind when spoken about rugby is the all blacks and how they recently won the rugby world cup (but this was before COVID-19 bagan)

Become one of the locals: visiting new zealand is a great experience especially when you meet a nice calm local. who knows maybe you guys might end up being great friends. You can have a good old chat with these kinds of people at a bar, restaurant or even just at the bus stop. The great thing about having a local friend is you can ask them any time if you need help or if you just want to know what the community is up to.

Activity 3: Go here, your journey starts here in Auckland. Watch and pick out your favourite 3 activities you’d like to do. List them on your blog with a quick explanation as to why you’d like to try them out! nm

The first place I would go to is the sky tower for bungee jumping. The reason I would like to go bungee jumping on the sky tower is because I have never experienced bungee jumping and when I do go I want to get the best and closest experience.

The next place I would visit is Rainbows end. You don't necessarily need a reason to go to the rainbows end but the reason I would go there is because I went there for a school trip in 2019 (last year) It was a blast, and I had the best time of my life.

The very last place I’d visit is mission bay. Why I would want to go to mission bay is pretty simple, YOU GET TO SWIM, FOR FREE! And you can play volleyball or any sort of beach games you can think of.

The book of the road

Directions around the Glen Innes community. First your going to start at pt England school then make your way down to the Pt England bakery to grab a bite of your favorite pastry, once your done make your down to the Glen Innes Library to some of your favorite books and maybe you could even purchase one of those books. After reading some books have some fun and visit the community pool for swim, because after that your going to head down Morrin Rd to gravity (a Trampoline park) have a jump around maybe do some front flips and back flips. After about 20 minutes of jumping around save a bit more energy and go to Extreme Edge for rock climbing, after you climb some walls and get through some obstacles. The second to last activity for the day is Roller skating *YAY!* Roll around have some fun and do some challenges the place holds. To finish the day off with a big bang go up to the Mount Wellington Lookout And you can see everything from where your standing.
