Can you have another look at the dependent/ independent clause slide. The dependent clause won't always be at the end. For example: Walking through the wood, he saw a fox that was following him. Walking through the wood He saw a fox that was following him. Which of these two clauses is a correct full sentence on its own? If it makes sense on its own then it is independent.
