Intro:
Do you know who Kate Sheppard is?Kate Sheppard was famous for protesting and changing New Zealand. She was born on 10 march 1847 in liverpool, united kingdom, and died on 13 July 1934 . Kate Sheppard devoted most of her life to women's rights.
Body para 1:
In Kate Sheppard's time Women were treated very differently and not in a good way. Men treated women like dogs and men thought that a woman's place was at home as a house and that they should have nothing to do with politics. There were so many strict rules that women had to follow back then. Some of them are that they couldn’t have their own bank account and Most of the time if a female wanted to do something she had to have either her husband or father’s permission.

Kate Sheppard did a petition to help with this problem. Before she could get any signatures she did talks and wrote in News Articles about how and why women's suffrage was such an important thing. A petition is when you get people to sign a paper and then send it to the government. Did you know that Kate Sheppard Did 3 petitions. For Kate’s Petitions There were Over 500 pages of 32,000 signatures for Kate Sheppard’s petition. Kate Sheppard Then delivered the petition to the parliament in July 1893. It was only a few months after she delivered the petition that it was a law that women could vote.

Kate Sheppeard’s Petition changed The Way of New Zealand. 1893 was the year that women could vote for their government. In 1893 New Zealand Was the first to have a law that women could vote for their government. It took 6 years for Kate Sheppard to finish her petition. This means that Kate’s Petition worked.

In conclusion Not only did Kate Sheppard’s Petition help New Zealand It helped change the World and how people thought.
